BTE site prepared for next wind farm

news-details

Usually at Buss Terminal Eemshaven it is mainly a coming and going of parts for wind turbines at sea and the terminal is full of activities. The installation of the foundation piles and connecting pieces of the Kaskasi wind farm has recently been completed and the 26.5 hectare site now appears to be deserted. But that is not because there is no more work, quite the contrary. The entire site has been 'swept clean', because almost all the square meters have to be used for the next offshore wind farm that already presents itself.

Buss Terminal Eemshaven will be responsible for the logistical handling of the above-water part (tower piles, rotor blades, nacelles) of the Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm, which is located about 18 kilometers off the coast, near Egmond aan Zee. A start has recently been made on the underwater part of this park and wind farm owner CrossWind is applying various innovations during the construction of the wind farm, such as hydrogen production at sea and floating solar panels.

In the coming months, the above water parts of the Siemens wind turbines will be shipped to Eemshaven to be further transported from there to the wind farm under construction. For the Eemshaven that means the 19thwind farm. The park will consist of 69 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 11 MW. The shaft height of the tower piles is more than 125 meters and a rotor blade is almost 100 meters. It is therefore understandable that with such dimensions a lot of space is needed for storage and transhipment. This is one of the reasons why the company purchased an additional four hectares of land on the other side of the road at the Beatrixhaven earlier this year. In addition, the facilities on the site itself have been expanded. For example, electricity connections have been made on the quay to reduce the use of diesel generators and engines as much as possible.

A fiber optic network has also been installed for better communication facilities. Furthermore, Buss Terminal Eemshaven is busy building a new head office on the site. This is necessary to be able to continue to supervise all activities from a good basis.
